GOBI’s cashmere story starts in Mongolia. The company works with Mongolian cashmere and combines that material origin with decades of manufacturing expertise in Ulaanbaatar.

Major stages of cashmere production are brought together through an integrated system, helping connect material knowledge, manufacturing and finished design.

Crafted in Mongolia Since 1981

GOBI was founded in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia in 1981 and has developed its cashmere expertise over more than four decades. Its production model covers sorting, washing, spinning, weaving, knitting and sewing in Mongolia.

Quality Standards & Certifications

GOBI supports its production processes with recognised quality standards and product testing. GOBI cashmere yarns received OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certification in 2021, with certification expanded to finished garments in 2024. Also has held the SFA Clean Fibre Processing Gold Level Certification since 2021. The company also operates an ISO 9001:2015 quality management system.

These standards give customers additional information about how certified products and manufacturing processes are assessed.

How to Care for Cashmere

Care instructions depend on the construction of the garment. GOBI advises dry cleaning for sewn products such as coats and blazers. Many knitted cashmere pieces may be hand-washed where the garment label permits, then reshaped and dried flat.
