45 Years of Cashmere Heritage

GOBI began in Mongolia with a clear purpose: transforming the world's finest raw cashmere into high-quality garments.

Built through Mongolia–Japan cooperation, the first production foundation brought modern cashmere processing into the country and opened a new chapter for Mongolia's natural fibre industry.

GOBI continued to strengthen its production base through technology upgrades, facility improvements and expanded capacity.

During this decade the company grew beyond manufacturing alone — developing seasonal collections, improving product quality and building a stronger retail and market presence. These upgrades prepared GOBI for its next stage as a modern Mongolian cashmere house.

GOBI entered the 2020s with a new focus on modern cashmere innovation.

From CashmereTech and seamless knitwear to CashmeReborn, traceability, certified standards and new product categories such as cashmere footwear, GOBI continues to expand what Mongolian cashmere can become.

This era reflects a broader vision for the brand: not only preserving 45 years of heritage, but transforming it through technology, material innovation and new ways of experiencing cashmere.

The project connects 106 herder households and 200 selected breeding bucks, focusing on raw-material quality, livestock genealogy and professional cashmere fibre testing before the fibre enters production.

Launched in 2023, CashmeReborn gives selected cashmere production remnants a second life.

GOBI's internal assessment reports 92.8% water saving, 99.78% lower chemical use, 25.98% CO₂ reduction and 8.99% energy saving compared with selected conventional production processes.

GOBI's traceability feature lets customers view product-level information on selected items, including source province, goat type, yarn blending and factory process.

GOBI also works with certification systems such as OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, SFA Clean Fibre Processing, ISO management standards and Mongolia-issued Organic Collection certification, within the stated certificate scope.

Built to treat every drop of industrial wastewater before discharge — and designed for the next step: circular water use.

In 2024, GOBI began construction of a new industrial wastewater treatment facility, investing MNT 2.86 billion in automated biological treatment technology. The facility was commissioned by the State Commission in December 2025 and holds its state registration certificate.

With a daily treatment capacity of 228 m³ — approximately 82,000 m³ a year — the facility is designed to treat 100% of GOBI's industrial wastewater before discharge into the central system. Its automated process also reduces direct human contact with wastewater, supporting improved occupational safety and hygiene at the plant.

The next step is water reuse. The facility is designed to prepare treated water for greywater applications, building a stronger foundation for circular water use in cashmere production. Water, soil and air quality are monitored through a laboratory licensed under the Ministry of Environment.
