DIRECT SOURCING OF CASHMERE FIBERS:
GOBI Cashmere's commitment to direct sourcing extends beyond buying from local herders. Our cashmere is hand-combed during the natural molting season, following traditional methods that herders on the Mongolian steppes have practiced for generations.
TRANSPARENCY IN THE SUPPLY CHAIN:
Transparency is a cornerstone of GOBI Cashmere's approach to luxury. We openly share information about our supply chain, from the source of cashmere fibers to the manufacturing process. By providing customers with a clear view of their production journey, GOBI Cashmere fosters trust and allows consumers to make informed choices.
ENERGY USE:
At GOBI, we consider it our duty to ensure the continuation of our business, so that we can preserve a centuries-old Mongolian nomadic tradition, while also valuing the craftsmanship of our employees. As our company grows, the demand for energy increases, and we recognize the importance of addressing the potential challenges associated with energy supply and consumption. With this in mind, we have taken proactive steps to evaluate and manage our energy usage.
In 2022, we implemented numerous upgrades to our machinery and facilities. These included frequency-converting (inverter) devices in machines with high energy consumption. To monitor our energy use, smart energy meters have been installed.
Furthermore, we've made a shift to sensored LED lights in place of standard lighting solutions. These initiatives are part of our ongoing work to modernize our facilities.

WATER CONSUMPTION:
Water management lies at the core of GOBI’s commitment to quality cashmere production. Across all workshops, we have implemented rigorous monitoring of water usage.
Water serves three essential purposes in our operations: for technical needs, domestic purposes, and irrigation and fire extinguishing. In addition, GOBI JSC consistently analyzes water, soil, and air quality through a licensed laboratory under the Mongolian Ministry of Environment.
Throughout 2022, our water management included the following:
- A total of approximately 125,000 m3 of water was used, as recorded by our monitoring.
- Our cleaning facility sterilized and repurified wastewater from our operations.
- New faucets were installed across our facilities.
- Water from our washing facility's cooling ventilation system was reused in our operations.
- To further enhance the quality of our water supply, we introduced an ionizing purifier in the freshwater line serving our food production areas.
- Moreover, water purifying devices have been thoughtfully installed in our factories, workshops, and offices, extending our water management to all aspects of our business.
Looking ahead, water management remains a key focus at GOBI. Plans are in motion to renovate and upgrade our facilities. Through these initiatives and the dedicated efforts of our team, GOBI continues to invest in its production in Mongolia.
